A sunny Sunday trip crossing railway tracks, through backyards, sandy roads and grassy fields.

A brilliant day of touring with various obstacles en-route, most of these overcome without moaning, but beware of tallish grasses, which expressed their annoying habits of depositing their hair-like seeds on the riders' clothes, resulting in itchy moments. It has to be said that the itchy moments probably added to stunt-like sequences of riding along the 'reconstructed track' on the way to Paul's lighthouse (see map). Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the day with Paul Smithson as the impeccable host on the way back to Dar es Salaam via Kipepeo. The trip ended with the naturally 'queue jumping' and ever so relaxing ferry-ride from Kigamboni to Dar es Salaam Harbour. (By Hans-Jakob Hausmann)

Starting from Tazara, we found our way to Vikundu. From there we targeted Paul's lighthouse. The first part of the trip as shown here is from the GPS, the second part is drawn as we remember it.
